Heyworth Illinois July 18, 1866 Governor Yates
After my respects to you I desire to ask if it would not be proper to make an effort to have the Illinois soldiers furlowed this fall long enough to come home to vote. The defeat of the Union Party in Illinois this fall would be a calamity which the whole government would feel.
The soldiers vote would make all safe. Will you give your influence to secure for them that privilege?
Please drop me a line and let me know what you think of it.
Yours Respectfully H Noble
