Col. William Hoffman

Commissary General of Prisoners

Washington D. C.

Colonel,

I desire specifically to call your attention to the case of Leonard H. Wood a prisoner of war confined at Fort Delaware.

I am acquainted with A. W. Lynn Esq the writer of one of the letters herewith enclosed and uncle of Wood. He is a very respectable and loyal citizen. His statements may be relied on, and I have no doubt that he would not make an effort to have his nephew released unless he was firmly convinced that he will henceforth conduct himself well.

You will oblige me by having him examined, and if found worthy released upon taking the oath of allegiance.

I am, Colonel,

Very Respectfully

Your obd't serv't,

Richd Yates

Governor
