St Louis Mo

General: I am informed that Jeremiah Bechtel of 41st Regt Ill Vols has been arrested and placed in close confinement.

His Father Isaac Bechtel, who is a most worthy and loyal citizen of this State has called on me and related the circumstances. His son was a paroled prisoner, when he was induced by some friends, to go home for a few days and while at home was seriously injured by being thrown from a waggon. I am of the opinion that under the circumstances he is worthy of the exception to

the general rule.

The patriotic record of the family, and their present distressed condition on account of their son, should have some bearing on the case. I would respectfully request, a favorable consideration of this case and if consistent hope the sentence may be remitted.

Very Respectfully
