Gentlemen of the Auditing Board Springfield Ill

Permit us to call your attention to a bill of medicines furnished the Irish Brigade, which was presented for us by Mr. Chs B. Brown, and at whose suggestion we address you.

These medicines were furnished at the request of the officers of the Brigade who represented their necessities, and we unhesitatingly supplied them, as we considered it our duty wehter we should ever be paid or not; at the same time we notified the families of volunteers that all medicines they might require we would furnish gratuitously upon the order of their physicians. As this last proffer was made through our city papers you can judge of the amts, we are daily called upon to give, and hope it will serve somewhat as an apology for intrusting our claim directly upon your attention.
