My Dear Sir

After my best respect I see a Call from the Presedent for 500.000. soldiers - I again ask of you in consistant to Rais a Caverly Redgment in Egypt for the U.S. Servis and do not wish to be troublesome sir but I want a Caverly Regmt - the Call dos not define the kind of Servis but I supposed in so large a call some Caverly would be wanted at all events I want to go in the Servis and this is the kind of Servis I like I was in the 2d Regmt Ill Vol in the War with Mexico and has been nearly 2 year in and about the Army now ingaged & feel well assure that I could command a Regmt Satisfatory to my self and the govemnt thar for I solicit the authority to Rais & Equipt a full Cav Reg. -
