I am instructed by the Acting Surgeon General to inform you that in compliance with your recommendation of the 18th inst: and in consideration of his long service as Surgeon of a Volunteer Regiment, the name of Ass't Surgeon H. W. Davis, U.S. Vol's, has been placed on file in this Office for speedy promotion.
