Sir I take the liberty of addressing you few lines in regard to raisng more troops in Ill. I see theire are to be some new Regs. raised in some of the States I do not know whether theire will be any from Ill. an not if theire are any to be raised I would like to get authority to raise a Reg. if you would be so kind as to see the Gov. I would be under many obligations for the favor I think that I could come as near Raissing a Reg. as the most of men and if the powers that he will give me a chance I will try
