Governor Yates Springfield Illinois:
Dear Sir: I am requested to inform you that Joseph T. Curtiss private Co. C 78 Illinois Volunteer infantry who is a resident of McDonough Co Illinois is now in the Hospital at Jeffersonville Indiana. His friends wish him to be transferred to the Hospital at this place. He was wounded at Kenesaw Mountain. You will do him a great kindness if you will take the necessary steps to have him transferred to Quincy and transportation furnished. He is very desirous to come here.
