Excellency---I would most Respectfully make Application to you for an appointment of a Field office in any new Regiment which may be organized in Illinois.

on the 15th inst. I shall have served three years in my Regiment, and as there are not a sufficient number of veterans reenlisted to continue the present organization as a Regiment, and desiring to remain in the Service, I make the above Application.

I would respectfully refer you to the recommendation of my Commanding Officers endorsed hearon as to my Capacity and Efficiency as an officer during the time I have Served, believing them to be my best judges as to my ability as an Officer and Soldier.

I have always endeavord to do my duty


faithfully in the cause in which evry true and Loyal man Should be enlisted, and trust you will give the above Application your earliest Consideration, as you may think my Merit is deserving, with Sentiments of high esteem

Lieut Capp has served in this command since its organization. I have always found him to be a brave, capable and efficient officer, and believe he is capable and worthy of fitting a higher position than his present grade.
