Dear Sir
Mr James Price, of Knoxville, who I have known for many years, desires to be appointed Quarter Master to some one of the Regiments to be raised under the recent call.
Mr Price is an old Citizen of this state, an excellent man, and a true patriot, and I hope you may be able to gratify his wishes. He has two sons in the Army, and is entitled to some Consideration

Answd Aug 5' 64. No regts yet provided for in Ills under new call. policy to assign to old regts &c. If any regts are organized best aid recruitment & get Colonel, recommendation, which by courtesy he has right to do. &c & could in that case most cheerfully issue Comn.
