Jacksonville, Aug. 6th 1864
Hon. Richard Yates
Governor of Illinois
In response to a call made by your Excellency on the loyal people of Illinois, the ladies of the Jacksonville Soldier's Aid Society, propose calling a public meeting at an early day, for the purpose of raising funds to purchase vegetables for our suffering soldiers. Thinking that the presence of your Excellency would add to the interest of the occasion, the ladies desire me to ask if you will do them the favor to address the meeting.
They will await your reply
before appointing a definite time for the meeting.
Very Respectfully
Mary J. Rhoads
