Honored Sir
I am A patient in hospital at this place and belong to Co. K. 10th Ills Cavelry I Enlisted in Feby 1862: Consequently was Never mustered in to the U S Service I have Been in hospital Since June 9th 1863 brot my Descriptive roll here with me but having no Muster I have not been able to draw any Pay Since april 63. the physicians pronounce my Case incurable and that I am not nor Will not Soon if Ever be fit for field duty that My life would be endangered by going South Now what I wish to know is whether I must Be Compelled to Serve out my time doing
Hospital duty and then loose two years of my wages and with a ruined Constitution be turned out not discharged to help my Self as best I Can they would discharge me if my papers ware right I have a family to Support and am in verry limited Circumstances I hope you will take my Case in to Consideration and act upon it amediately So I may draw [next?] month and much oblige a true Union Soldier hoping to hear from you Soon I remain Verry respectfully Yours
