Dear Sir
The Notorious out-law and "Guerilla Chief" "John Carlin" is in this County with a number of his associates; and from reliable inforation; is gathering his scattered forces from Montgomery County for a raid on this Town, We have heretofore been so quiet here that the Loyal Citizens are almost entirely without arms and consequently unprepared for any attach that might be made upon us, We are organising and most Respectfully but earnestly request you to furnish us with 100 Stand of arms at once, The Hon Jas W English and my Son Ornan Pierson will hand you this and take charge of the arms
