Hon. Richd Yates,
Springfield Ill:
This will be handed you by Mrs. Joseph S. Davis of Fulton County Ill. who comes to you with a petition addressed to the Secretary of War at Washington D.C. for the release of her husband who is a soldier of the regular Army of the United States.
It seems to us that the petition makes a strong case, and the prayer of which should be granted. We hope, that it may please your Excellency to aid Mrs. D. in obtaining a discharge for her afflicted husband.
Any favor you may extend her will be appreciated by
