To His Exy Gov. Yates.
Sir.
The letter of President Sturtevant, herewith enclosed, intimates that I have a request to make of your Excellency, and have therefore sought an introduction.
My brother John H. Thompson M.D. is a physician of thorough education and good experience. He has had special opportunities for surgical practice, and bears a good reputation for skill and success. His moral character is entirely correct, and he has had some acquaintance with business, outside of his profession. He is therefore compe

General Fremont has kindly assure me, that should he receive an appointment he will give him some special service suited to his abilities.
I beg to introduce my brother and to urge respectfully his claims upon your attention -
He resides at St Johns, Perry County, Illinois.
With high consideration
Yr obt sevt
