Camp Douglas.

Sir:

Mssrs D.C McClain and John McClain by who this will be presented, desire to have an interview with their relatives, William B. McClain of Co [A?]. 10th Texas & Wm R McClain 11th Texas Regts. who are at present confined prisoners of war at Camp Douglas. I am informed that these two prisoners have expressed a desire to take the oath of allegiance and to remain in Illinois during the war. But knowing your instructions regarding the release of prisoners I would request you to inform Messrs McClain what course they will have to pursue to procure the release of their relatives, and to afford them any facilities in your


power to accomplish their object.
