Hon Richard Yates

Governor of Illinois

Dear Sir

I offer you my servises for any duty where they will be of the most use to the Country. I have had several years experience in Military drill in one of the best N. York Regiments and have drilled some companies of late that are now in Missouri. Perhaps I could be of some service in drilling the troops in Camp Butler near Springfield. In these perillous times to Constitutional Liberty and the Union of these States it becomes the duty of all good citizens to render all the aid possible to the great cause and for these considerations

I make any offer of my servises that may be acceptable

As to buissness it never was better than it is at presant with me not even in more prosperous seasons but I am willing to throw it up if I can be of any servise in a better cause

Respt yours

F. P. Brown

Please addres in care of N. Jackson
