To the Governor of the State of Illinois

Dear Sir

Will you be so kind as to inform me if there has been a man died in your state by the name of Rowland Gardner formally of North Kingston R I. There is a rumor of his death and that he was possessed of a large amount of property and died without heirs, Now We think that there is some mistery about it As there was a man by that name went from North Kingston a number

of years ago and was of a family of ten Children Now one of the brothers Children has become immensely rich within a short time, and the other heirs thinks that he might have been on to Illinois and settled up the affair privately, we do not know the town or County but thought that if there was such a man died and left a million or more of property in your State that you could probably give us some information about it weather it had been settled by a man by the name of Gardner Now if you can find out any clue to what I have stated I hope you will and
let us know, and there will be some one sent on to investigate the subject, Please write on the receipt of this and Oblige the heirs
