                      Monmouth Illinois,
                      Alethearian Hall. Nov 13, 1864

Gov Yates,

The ladies of the Alethearion Literary Society of Monmouth College having been much pleased with your eloquent and patriotic address delivered in our city on the 10th of last month. They proposed your name as an honorary member of the society and it was received by a unanimous vote. The society is formed exclusively of young ladies, who have for their object, the cultivation of intellect. But whilst they are striving to be true to their name, and their God, they forget not to be true to their Country, in her dark hour of trouble, and we would be proud of the

of honor, of enrolling one of our countries best friends, in our list of honorary members.

                                 Very Respectfully,
                                           Sallie I. Struthers
                                                Cur. Sec. Aleth. Soc.
