Office of Provost Marshal,
THIRD DISTRICT, ILLINOIS.
Dixon, November 14th A.D. 1864.
The Bearer of this
Addo Borchers
Is one with whom I have been acquainted for ten years his conduct has always been such that his friends could depend on him and he has allway influenced a larg section of the County in which he lives At his County Call he helped to rais a Company of men for the 46" Regiment and was duly elected to the position Lieutenant until his health not permiting him any longer to stay in the field he resigned and since that he has taken the enrollment for one sub District - in Stephenson County and has also seen that at the last Elections every man who he thought had a right to vote as exercised that privilege and he is and
always has been a firm advocut of the cause of his Country he is now a Drafted man and obeyes his country call with as much alacrity as he did when he was a volunteer
Any favor shown him would much oblige his numerous friends
And none more than his friend
