Franz A. Hoffmann,

Vice Gouverner des Staates Illinois. Consul mehrerer deutscher Staaten. Commissioner

Chicago Nov. 22 1864.

Dear Governor:

I must bore you again. What is the use of being Lieutenant Governor, unless you occasionally allow your light to shine?

Now to the point. My old friend Joseph S Reynolds is now ranking captain of the 64th Ill. Vol. (Yates' Sharpshooters) The papers, recommending him for the position of Major, (which is vacant), are now on file with Adj. Fuller, in whose absence the will remain there. Now will you please to have the papers sent to you, examine them and have the Commission issued at once? This is all, it is mighty little, and you will comply cheerfully and once more oblige

Your friend & Lieutenant

Francis A Hoffman
