Sir I have the honor to forward to you a Rebel Battle Flag captured by my command on a recent expedition to Brookhaven Miss.

During the expedition the command captured two pieces of Artillery, Three Caissons, one Flag, Eighty six Prisoners, Two hundred horses and mules, on Rail Road Train, Fifty army wagons and a Rebel Mail.

One Camp was surprised and broken up, and a large depot at Brookhaven containing Quartermaster Commissary and ordnance Stores destroyed.

Not long since a Garrison Flag was captured by my command at Camp Moore La. That Flag was sent to the War Department at Washington. I have obtained permission to send this one to you.
