To His Excellency
Gov. Yates
Dear Sir:
This will be handed you by Mr. Robt. Frazier, a friend who is en route for Virginia, to rescue from rebeldom his parents. In this praiseworthy object he needs the assistance of men in authority, and from my knowledge of your kindness and influence I have taken the liberty of addressing you this note. Will you add to your many acts of friendship to myself by favoring my friend with such recommendations as will carry him successfully on his journey.
