Hon.. Richard Yates
Gov..of the State, Illinois,
Dear Sir
I Geo, H, Wagner, Corp,, of,, Co,, G,,89,, Reg, Ills, Vol, send enclosed in this certificates from Two of the most reliable Physicians of this Town hoping you will forward them to Sec,, Stanton and obtain an order for my immediate Discharge from the service. I have been in the Hospital nearly Ten months. I have been at the U S, Gen. Hospital Div. No. 7. Quincy. Ills. since the 27th of last July.. hoping to be examined and Discharged. I have not had any regular examination there yet and I take this way hopeing with your influence I shall obtain my Discharge soon for I can not believe Government intends Keeping any Soldier in the service under pay when he is not fit for any duty and wishes to be Discharged. and I am confident that my disability is suficient to entitle me to the
same if I was capable of bearing a musket. I would go to the front and do my duty like a man and with just as cheerful a Heart as when I volunteered and as I am not in condition to do that I have no wish to remain in the Hospital drawing wages that aught to Payed to some one able to perform his duty. I have got these certificates and send them to you hopeing you will forward them to Washington and obtain an Order for my Discharge and wish you to inform me of the probable success buy sending a note to my Wife, Mrs. C.C. Wagner, Oneida. Knox. Co. Ills.
I am very respectfuly
