Sir I take the liberty of addressing you a short note for the purpose of inquiring of you if you know anything of S. G. Gibson attorney in Springfield & if he is a man of reliance & responsibility My reasons for making this inquiry is because I have bin a soldier in the army & was wounded at Fort Donalson & disabled in one of my hands & [illegible] [illegible] was discharged & I have made application for my pension & Bounty through S G Gibson he having bin recommended as a responsible & efficient attorney & as he has bin ingaged in it now more than a year & I have not received any satisfactory account of it since I wish to know what kind of a man he is your answer to the above facts will greatly oblige an old Soldier I am Sir with much
