          Sir -

                With due respect to your official position I hereby respectfully apply for a Special transfer to my own State for the reasons that I have been wounded, and cripled, which renders me unfit for field duty.  If this meets you approbation please give me a transfer to Chicago, Ill. as this is my place of residence
