Dear Sir
Yours of the 31st inst addressed to Hon John D Bennett was handed me this morning. Mr Bennett is absent on private business East, and intends to be in Washington about the 1st of January A letter from you would probably reach him their at that date care of E C Engersal
I regret that he is not at home so as to comply with your request but either Mr Johnson or myself will if passible be at Springfield on or before the opening of the Legaslature. I think Mr Ford our Representative will suport you it is the will of his constituents.
Mr. Ford will be in Springfield a day or to before the opening of the sessions have Col [Beihcoat?] see him I have written Col B today trusting in your goings into the Senate & remain your
