Sir:
I have the honor of acknowledging the receipt of your favor of June 30th, which has just reached me. I also addressed in July, which I presume you have not yet recd, or had not at the date of your writing, in which I gave you a statement of my case, but have recd no answer as yet. My regt was mustered out at Springfield some time since. I saw Capt. Jenks when he passed through here and he promised to attend to my case and let me know but I have heard nothing from him. Hoping your Excellency, will take immediate action in my case to release me from this unpleasant confinement.
