Governor:
I have the honor to state that since my communication of last week a large portion of this Regiment have signified their desire that I communicate to you their willingness to enlist in the service of the U.S. for one year for a campaign against the Indians on the plains.
In compliance with their wishes I therefore tender the services of this Regiment for that duty, so soon as our present term of service shall expire (Sept. 23rd), and they shall have had a few days at home to recruit, and shall be pleased to hear from you of their acceptance at the earliest possible moment, in case their services in that capacity are required by the Government.
Should they be accepted an interview with yourself and the Adjutant General would be necessary in regard to details, recruiting to fuller members &c.
