A "National Funeral March," composed in mourning of the loss of President James A. Garfield, who was shot on July 2, 1881, and died on September 19, 1881. He was the second president to be assassinated.

The cover depicts Columbia mourning the fallen president and presents Garfield and Lincoln among the angels.
