Judge Moses
Dear Sir, Yours of yesterday and parcel per Express, are both recd. I have placed the parcel in the hands of Mar. Stacy Esq. who will attend to distribution of its contents through the precincts of the County. There is apparently little concern felt about the interests involved in the question of the New Constitution, and I apprehend great danger from this indifference. The Democrats will doubtless vote for it, in solid strength, as for a great Party measure, and it is to be feared that many Republicans may either vote for it, or let it go by default. I wish the signs were better.
The Partition case was settled by the court. Report approved, 1/5 to be paid to Elliott on his executing bond with security to be approved by you.
Payment has not yet been made by Coultas, nor have the receipts of the parties been delivered to me. The Deeds yet remain in my hands & the amt paid by Hall & F.
It will doubtless all be completed in a day or two.
Yours truly
Jas. Berdan
