His excellency Gov Yates Sir

I send you a few hints to let you know what is going on in Our vicinity to it is generally believed that a core combination is going on in the town of Wilmington Green Cty to prepaair for opposing the Government. The troops who have lately returned from Elizabeth Town Ky Say they will not go Back They vilify the [exbrmal] Nation. Leutenent Coats a few days ago was heard to say A lot of the Sessation whose Cannot Old thief besides much Mischief. The same sort E S Hoor is found my informant & he said he heard [both?] say it him Self. He also said that the [illegible] there. They have one organization that will [explane t'd?] intention is how ever the get all ready. Secessionists is a thret there and they are in South Carolina. No man knows better than Pete the Heal Sesstionists act for Mr. Reformtion & veracity I will refer you to P Bullock & E. F. Houghton of Wilmington town both young Social Rankin & Easter [Peind?] of Glasgow. Now I will make a suggestion if you think it worth while a look after I have [ entire line illegible] being the agent of sesscisson [illegible] of it, let him [illegible] he need not but price [illegible to end of line] There there is not a means thereby a way begin I [illegible] to have his God inquiry & at him drop in a word against the administration & believe every thing that this source [illegible to end] & he will be taken in to [illegible to end] let him come here first [illegible to end]

The Cooperation of [illegible] 3 good men I have not the least doubt that a nice nest of them can be taken that will probably Save the County of much trouble.

P.S Would it not be a good move to call into the field a fiew companies of all ages from 17 to 60 to guard the city of Washington & let a corresponding number of the troops that is doing that Service go into the battle field. I think I could. Raise a company a few [illegible to end of line] of men [illegible] facts who could [illegible] Garrison City that could not stand marching
