Springfield Jany 13th, 1865
Governor Yates
Dear Sir Please pardon me for again intruding my personal affairs upon your attention, but I have thought that if the Prest is not prepared to make appointments of U.S. Marshal or Direct Tax Commissioners, that the position of Treas Agent for the purchase & sale of cotton at some point in Georgia or So Carolina - Savannah has been lately made a Port of Entry & Govt officers will necessarily have to be appointed. I thought that I would call your attention to the above before you went to Washington, and to say, that no matter what action the state [Law?] Board or Gov Oglesby may take in my case, I will hold myself in readiness to accept any position you may obtain for me.
Very truly yours
