With petition for Rev. John Mack (no date)
Equality Ill
Sept 16th 1861
Hon Jesse K Dubois
My Dear Sir
I am just on my return from the meeting of our Presbytery at Golconda I have just signed a petition to the Gov on behalf of Rev John Mack as a suitable person for a Chaplaincy in some one of our Illinois regiments. In the impetuosity of his soul he volunteered as a private in the ranks. But he is worthy the place we ask for him and a word on his behalf to his Excellency The Gov from you may be
of avail. No doubt you often have solicitations of this kind but perhaps not from any of your old friends in Southern Ill. I am pleasantly located in Olney where I have been for nearly five years. Our Synod meets in your city of Springfield in a few weeks when I hope to pay my compliments in person
Kind regards to Mrs Dubois & Family
Very Truly Yours
John Crozier.
Col. Dubois
