Sir:
It is desired that our guests arrive at Quincy, Illinois, or Abacon, Mo., as early as Tuesday evening, May 2d, when a Committee will take charge of them. A Special Train will be waiting at each of the above placed on Wednesday, May 3d.

SIR:
The Council of the City of St. Joseph proposes to tender the hospitality of the City to a number of Distinguished Gentlemen, selected from various parts of the Republic.
The undersigned, a committee of invitation appointed by the City Council, have the honor to respectfully request you to meet the guests of the City, and the citizens of St. Joseph, on Thursday the 4th of May next.
It is further proposed to offer the guests of the City an excursion, by boat, to Omaha, or to Nebraska City, and Leavenworth, as the guests may select.
Please notify the Committee of your acceptance of this invitation at your earlierst convenience.
