Hon Richard Yates
Dear Sir
I learn that it is the purpose of the Republicans of this Congressional District as a testimony of their appreciation of his services in support of the principles for which we have labored, to present through you, to the President for the position of Consul the name of James Henderson Esq of Monmouth. From a long and intimate acquaintance with him - from a knowledge of his standing with the friends of the administration and having full confidence in his integrity and ability I do not hesitate to recommend him as a gentleman eminently fitted for the position.
His appointment will meet with the approbation of your friends in this District.
Yours Respectfully
