Richard Yates Jacksonville Ills My Dear Friend Herewith I enclose you two letters of introduction written to you for Mr Randall, which he [never ?] presented to you. Mr Randall is now an applicant for the office of Commissioner of Taxes for the State of Florida, under the "direct Tax Law." I hope you will send to Mr Randall a letter of recommendation such as he really merits. I have known Mr. Randall, for sometime past, and fully concur in all Judge Miller & Col Synch say of him If you will lend him your kindly assistance in this matter you will render valuable service to a very worthy young man. Mr R. is at present a clerk in the 1st Auditors Office Treasury Dept. Hoping to hear from you soon I remain Very truly your friend, John I. Weed
