Shawnee Town June 14th, 1865.
Hon R Yates.
Dear Sir,
I received your truly discouriging letter, but feel it a duty I owe myself and children to prosicute my claim. You tell me; perhaps Mr O H Browning would attend to it for me. You will please let me know where I may direct a letter to him, also when you made that aplication for me, I was not aware that any had been made except the one made by myself to the President. I do not think that Government, or the authorities of this State, intended to impoverish or breake me up when they took my place, but such has been the result, as I owned nothing but that place had nothing to live on but what was there, and it is now nearly four years since every thing I had was sacrifice or distroid, and been living upon expences
involving myself, till that home may pass from me forever. These facts will I hope be sufficient apology for troubling you.
Respectfully yours
M G Eddy.
He wrote to me & I made application - now says He did not know I had made app -- so no more about it
