with J. K. Dubois letter 7/24/65
St. Louis MO. July 23d, 1865
Hon. J. K. Dubois - Dear sir -
I begin to think that my appointment as Mail Agt is about to fail. I saw C. W. Beck yesterday he told me he had recd a letter from P. M. Gen or 1st Assistant - I am not sure which requesting him to go on the road again. he did not show me the Letter - said he had lost it I do not know what he will do. But am satisfied he would as soon come back as not. I wish to ask another favor of you that is to try to know the cause for my being treated in this manner I am satisfied there could been no Charges or cause for my not receiving my commission. I have been very faithful in performing my duty and as I think have done it satisfactorily.
I give you form of letter from 1st Asst. P. M. Gen to Gov. Yates.
