P.S. by the kindness of a fellow
soldier I had permission to peruse
a copy of the Jacksonville Journal
of June 22nd. In it I saw published
my last letter to you and was much
pleased to know that you had received
it. You will probably notice I write
with considerable feeling about the
veterans I think you would not blame
me could you know exactly our conditions
and feelings. It is but due to you today
that your name is often mentioned
by our boys. If say they Gov Yates
was yet our Governor the Ill. troops
would be among the first to be mus-
tered out and her veterans would be
first on her list. A large number
of troops have passed through to this
plase to be mustered out among
others I notise the 117th, 124th 114th
o.e. Ill
Chas Austin
I mailed a few rebel papers to you
which I thought might be of
interest.
