Camden, Maine, Aug 17/65
Mr. Yates, Dear Sir:
Amid the multiplicity of your public cares, possibly you may nearly have forgotten your little friend Sarah Wallace of Washington memory. If so, this may serve to remind you of her, who under her other name S. W. Chapin, and through this sermon would introduce you to her husband.
Among the exciting public events of the past four years, we have often read your name with pleasure as first and foremost of the loyal in the land for the suppression of wrong and the establishment of the right.
I have only time to add that we reside in a pleasant town on the Penobscot Bay - quite a watery place at this season of the year.
Should you ever feel the need of a bit of sea air to restore your wasted energies, you will find a cordial welcome from us both for yourself and Mrs. Gates.
Accept our kind regards for yourself and wife.
Cordially your friend S. W. Chapin
Mrs S. W. Chapin Camden Maine Reminds you of the past at Washington, sends sermon of her husband, and invites you and your family to visit them when you need to recruit your health at a [illegible] place
