Understanding that George McConnel has been encouraged by you to expect a Major's commission, we wish to assure you that in our opinion his appointment would give very great satisfaction to his fellow citizens, who have seen & admired his soldierly qualities, and are constantly witnessing the efforts of his father to rally the friends of the Union - we sincerely wish that you McConnel may receive the looked for commission soon.
