Hon. Richard Yates
Dr Sir
Col. James A Barrett desired me to make application to you for a complimentary appointment for me that of 2nd Lieutenant. It is his wish & desire that I should be connected with him as a member of his Staff & he has deemed it advisable for me to possess such appointment. Your Excelency is probably aware that I have every been loyal & true in this War. My extreme bad health has alone prohibited me from joining the army & now that I am able to do so I trust you will be so kind as to afford me the
opputainty of doing so. The position is one I can fill I think with credit to yourself & myself & should you deem me worthy of it in future as ever in the past you will have no more true & ardent Friend & supporter than
Your obdient Servent
Harry C. Watson
