To his Excellency Gov Yates
Dear Sir I again take the privelege of humbly asking you whether you have done anything with my case or not I wrote to you concerning the matter some time since but as yet have received no answer I hope you will not think me too tenacious for I think it is a right that any person could ask with all the confidence in the world from one who can grant that right with so much consistency, Indeed Sir it would seem a hard thing and an act of great injustice to you after you had spent time and money in getting up a company and being duly elected to office to have a stranger without any claims and and against the will of the whole co - to take your office. I only ask you to investigate the case and I know after doing so I am satisfied that you will not hesitate a moment in siting the matter right I know that I am but a humble supplicant and perhaps have powerful influence against me in the person of Gen McClernand and I know you are the only hope I have in getting justice and I still hope you will consider me worthy of that justice
Your humble servant
