At a meeting of the council of the town and borough of Rochdale, in the county of Lancaster, in England, held in the council rooms, Rochdale, on the 3d day of May, 1865, John Latham, esq., mayor, in the chair, it was—
Resolved unanimously, That this council has heard with profound regret and horror of the dastardly assassination of President Lincoln, and hereby express its deepest abhorrence of such a deed, and its sincere sympathy with the citizens of the United States, and the widow and family of the late President in the great and irreparable loss which they have sustained.
