Resolution adopted at the annual conference of the Welch Baptist Association, held in Victoria, county of Monmouth, May 30, 1865.
Resolved, That this association takes the earliest opportunity of expressing its intense sorrow and deep abhorrence at the assassination of the late President of the United States, the honest and upright Abraham Lincoln, and its heartfelt sympathy with the American people in the peculiarly trying circumstances in which, by this sad event, they have been placed; its ardent desire for their peace and prosperity, and the maintenance of their amicable relations with Britain and all other European States; and its fervent gratitude to God for the prospect of a speedy termination of the war, and the total abolition of slavery throughout their land.
Signed on behalf of the conference:
WILLIAM ROBERTS,
Moderator.
TIMOTHY THOMAS,
Secretary.
