At a meeting of the council of the city of Worcester, holden this 2d day of May, 1865, it was
Resolved, That this council has heard with great sorrow and indignation of the assassination of the President of the United States, and of the atrocious attempt on the lives of other persons connected with the government of that country, and feels the deepest sense of horror at such detestable crimes. The council also wishes to assure the family of the late President, and the American people, of its heartfelt sympathy with them under their irreparable loss.
