Borough of Barnstaple,
in the County of Devon, to wit:
At a quarterly meeting of the town council of this borough, held on the 10th day of May, 1865, it was Unanimously resolved, That this council, in its corporate capacity, desires to express its sorrow and indignation at the assassination of the President of the United States, and to convey the expression of its sympathy and condolence at the loss which his widow and the American nation have sustained.
That a copy of this resolution, with the corporate seal attached, be forwarded to the representative of the United States in this country.
