At a quarterly meeting of the mayor, aldermen, and common councillors of the borough of Cardigan, held the ninth day of May, 1865, it was
Resolved unanimously, That we, the mayor, aldermen, and councillors of the borough of Cardigan, in council assembled, desire to give expression to the feelings of horror and indignation with which we have heard of the atrocious assassination of President Lincoln and the murderous attack upon Mr. Secretary Seward and his sons, and beg to convey to Mrs. Lincoln and the American people an expression of our profound sympathy and heartfelt condolence at the irreparable loss which they have sustained.
