His Excellency
R. Yates.
Gov. Ill
My Dear Sir
Permit me, although absent from the State, in the service of the Government at this post, to offer you my most sincere & profound acknowledgements for your late, most praiseworthy act, in prorouging the late, traitorous assembly, recognised as the Illinois Legislature. You richly Merit, as you will doubtless receive, the hearty thanks & approval of every truly loyal man in the State. And when the wicked designs & purposes of the Men of our State who are opposing the earnest prosecution of this war for the sipprission of this wicked & causeless rebellion shall have been fully exposed, as
they assuredly will be, this noble and brave act of yours will secure you the plaudits and blessings of, not only your own great State, but of the whole nation
You have My Earnest prayer, that God may spare your valued life to continue to do valiant Service in the Cause of your Country.
I have the honor to be, Gov, your most obd't humble Servant
